Distinctive Dance is a community-focused, socially conscious charitable organisation dedicated to advancing education by making dance education accessible to all. We are committed to promoting health and wellbeing in the community through the performing arts.

Our ethos centres on removing economic barriers to enable individuals in local communities to achieve their goals, develop confidence in their abilities, and improve their physical fitness and mental wellbeing.

We strive to ignite a passion for learning and inspire a thirst for knowledge among the young individuals we work with. This is achieved by providing a safe, enjoyable environment where students can express themselves through the performing arts while exploring the endless possibilities that education can offer.
Our Mission
Distinctive Dance uses dance as a transformative vehicle to help children flourish, regardless of their background. We are dedicated to fostering resilience, confidence, and creativity in every child, preparing them for whatever their future holds. By integrating wellbeing education techniques, such as meditation and mindfulness practices, we aim to build strong, self-assured students. We work closely with mental health charities to ensure those most in need within our community receive appropriate and effective support.

We create an inclusive environment where students, parents, families, and friends can come together to share experiences at our numerous events across Scotland. Our family-focused ethos seeks to drive positive change within the communities we serve, with educational development at the heart of our organisational values.
The Academy is governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees, who are responsible for ensuring the charity operates effectively, upholds its mission, and delivers meaningful outcomes for every member of the Distinctive Dance family.
